Preparation for Adulthood

Preparation for Adulthood (PfA)is about helping young people with SEND move smoothly into adult life. This support usually starts from age 14 (Year 9) and covers four key areas:

  • Education, Employment & Training – Support to access college, apprenticeships, supported internships, and job opportunities.
  • Independent Living – Learning life skills like managing money, housing options, and personal care.
  • Friends, Relationships & Community – Helping young people build social skills, make friends, and take part in community activities.
  • Health & Wellbeing – Ensuring ongoing medical, mental health, and social care support into adulthood.

The Bradford Local Offer provides resources, services, and guidance for families navigating this transition.
