Preparation for Adulthood (PfA)is about helping young people with SEND move smoothly into adult life. This support usually starts from age 14 (Year 9) and covers four key areas:
- Education, Employment & Training – Support to access college, apprenticeships, supported internships, and job opportunities.
- Independent Living – Learning life skills like managing money, housing options, and personal care.
- Friends, Relationships & Community – Helping young people build social skills, make friends, and take part in community activities.
- Health & Wellbeing – Ensuring ongoing medical, mental health, and social care support into adulthood.
The Bradford Local Offer provides resources, services, and guidance for families navigating this transition.
