We facilitate the Parent Carer Network (PCN) where we gather feedback from local SEND groups/ organisations to represent parents across the district. The parent carer network is a symbol of strength and a safe space for local support groups and leads of services to share their opinion on matters such as:
– Legislative changes
– Local Council policies
– Raise issues their families are facing
and more!

One important part of the PFBA’s role is improve provision and outcomes for the children and young people in the Bradford district, however another important role is to provide input into regional and national initiatives, policy design and legislation.

As the parent carer forum for the Bradford district, we work to support parents of children with disabilities and special educational needs. One of the ways we do this is locally, by listening to your views and experiences, and communicating them to the relevant departments at Bradford Council and other services, to make sure your voice is heard, and to influence how disability services are provided.
We are part of the Yorkshire and Humber region, one of 9 regions throughout the UK. We meet with the other forums in our area every couple of months and this enables us to hear about what works well and not so well in other areas, and to get new ideas about how we can help our members.
The National Network of Parent Carer Forums covers all 9 regions, 151 local forums including the PFBA. It’s a parent carer led organisation and covers:
- Children and young people from 0-25 years.
- All disabilities and special educational needs.
- 151 local parent carer forums, in 9 different regions.
- The PFBA is in the Yorkshire and Humber region.
- All forums invited to the national conference each year.
- Ensures that good practice, knowledge and shared expertise about parent participation continues to grow and to strengthen parent carer forums
- Working together as parent carer forums to ensure the collective voice is heard – NNPCF has direct contact with the Department of Education, the Department of Health and other government organisations such as OFSTED and NHS England. They encourage consultation on policy and maintain a good level of communication to influence decisions.
- Works with a network of organisations to connect with those who have an influence over the children and families who NNPCF represents.
