How you can help the PFBA help families

1 – Join us – sign up to our email list here. Membership is free and you will hear about our future events first, giving booking priority.

2 – Help us to spread the word. We love it when our social media posts are shared – could you share on your own news feed or in a disability related group? Or pass on one of our emails to a friend and encourage them to join our email list.

3 – Have your say. We carry out surveys on different aspects of disability/SEN and feed the results back to the relevant services. You can also tell us about your experiences, good and bad, in one of these ways here

4 – Give your time. There are different ways you can help and some of these are listed below. To find out more about volunteering for the PFBA, please email supportnews@pfba.org.uk.

We also have a presence on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.

Join Our Board

The Parents’ Forum is a charity with two paid staff and a committee of parent/carer volunteers. We always encourage parents of disabled/special needs children and young people to get involved with us and if they can, help us out in a way that they will enjoy and will fit into their life of caring responsibilities. If you would like to help us out, training will be given which is appropriate for the role. Any out-of-pocket expenses incurred will be reimbursed.

Become a committee member and have a say in how the PFBA is run. The committee meets every 4-6 weeks during term time, at the Carlisle Business Centre in Bradford, and meetings usually last 2 hours. There is also an Annual General Meeting once a year in October/ November. We are a friendly bunch and there is always tea and biscuits!

Roles – like most committees of charities, we have specific roles of Chair, Vice Chair, Treasurer and Secretary. The roles do have some extra responsibilities than a standard committee member, but these are minimal – please get in touch to find out more.

Volunteer Opportunities

We understand that committees and meetings are not for everyone, and we also need help in other areas:

Helping at events – we occasionally run social events, or attend other groups’ events. It is good to have several PFBA representatives to chat to other parents and to take their details if they want to be on our database.

Attending coffee mornings – we are often invited to attend coffee mornings of special schools or other groups. This is a good way of getting the word out about what we do. This would usually be just a short informal chat with the parents who are there about what we do, and taking details for our database.

Going to the local Child Development Centres – to make contact, often for the first time, with parents of disabled and special needs children, we would like to have an information stand at the CDCs to introduce ourselves.

We are always looking for new good ideas!

Donate

We do not charge a membership fee and do not usually hold fund raising events or collections, however, if you would like to make a donation to our work, that would be very welcome and can be done via BACS:
